1. Earthquakes
Japan and California both have a lot of earthquakes. The last earthquake in California that was really scary for me was in 1994.
If you read the article, you can see that although it was a strong earthquake, not too many people died. There was no tsunami, luckily.
Someday I'd like to try living in a place with no earthquakes!

My son Yuta always says "I want to move back to live in Mitchell,SD( which is the place with no earthquakes)!"

Everyone here is fine. Some of our students had pretty scary experiences, though. I'd hate to have been in one of those tall apartment buildings on the evening of the 15th.
I heard the safest state for natural disasters is Wisconsin. It sounds too cold, though!
